My Work Out Schedule

So for a few weeks I have been working out pretty consistently. The great thing is I am losing weight and starting to feel so much better! It took me a little while to get into a groove and now I wanted to share what I am doing.

Monday: Aqua Zumba or the gym- If I go to the gym I have a few routines I work through. Since we are at an apartment I use the gym there because…well I am paying a lot for it already.
Gym: 30 minutes on the bike, weights arms or legs, then do either 20 minutes of elliptical or the treadmill. I added the extra 20 of cardio because once I got through my 30 minutes of bike and weights I still felt like I had energy.

Tuesday: Gym-50 minutes of cardio and 15-20 minutes of stretching

Wednesday: Gym or Aqua Zumba

Thursday: Night off or yoga at home

Friday: Yoga at home and cardio at the gym

Saturday: Pilates- This is something I am very new to. It has been amazing so far. I feel like I get in a great work out and also get that great feeling you get after yoga.

Sunday: Depending on the day I alternate between cardio, yoga, zumba DVD at home, or rest. I like to make sure Sunday I have options.

Family Update y’all

So far Colorado has been very kind to us. We are both working full time, settled in to our apartment, and taking every chance we get to go somewhere new around Colorado.

This summer we have some trips planned to Glennwood Springs, camping, and hopefully to some music festivals. Summer should be great.

One of the things that I am starting to get used to is finding my way around town. I am directionally challenged and let’s be real, without GPS I don’t know how I would have survived. To me saying if you are lost look to the mountains and you will be facing west means nothing. I don’t think in terms of north, south, east, or west when it comes to directions. But, I know for some people having a solid landmark to find their bearings are helpful.

Some of my favorite places so far are Sprouts grocery store (it is awesome), Trader Joe’s, Smashburger (yes I love it, so good), Breckenridge is great even if you just want to go hang out and not ski, Cherry Creek Pilates (Cherry Creek is an expensive area of town but there is some good window shopping, hello Hermes and Louis Vutton), and hanging out with friends and family.

We have gone to see the Rockies play, which is weird. I am truly a Cardinals fan! However, I love being so close to a major league team. Typically we would drive up to see a game from Little Rock to St. Louis just to see our Cardinals play. In June the Cards will be here playing the Rockies and we are ready to cheer on our team! Even better we can hope on the light rail and ride down to the stadium and not have to fight traffic or park. Awesome y’all!

I think the change has been very good for our little family. We needed a chance to refocus on figure out what we want and what we want to do with our future. It has been amazing what change has brought to us. Colorado was certainly a big change but has been a welcomed one. Thankfully I was able to get a job in my field that will allow me to grow and improve and learn so much more.

Jared is itching to camp and hike! We are just waiting for the rain to clear out around here. Hopefully soon!

Thanks y’all!

What does your perfect weekend look like?

Happy Monday y’all! I don’t know about you but I am still trying to live in the weekend. Ha! Our weekend was amazing. The weather was perfect and we got so much done.

I love a productive weekend just as much as a lazy one. This weekend was a good mix of both. We did not have any plans other than heading up to Golden, Co. If you do not know that is where Coors is brewed! We did not check out the brewery, instead we had lunch with Jared’s sister and brother-in-law. Golden is a very cool little town. There are a lot of places to hike and enjoy the outdoors. We walked up and down the main street in town then met for lunch.

Outside of that we cleaned the house, meal prepped for the week, and did our taxes. Finally. We did wait a lot later than we normally do to do taxes but with the move and new jobs things were more complicated.

I wanted to leave you a couple of photos from Golden. If you are in Denver it is a quick trip. I suggest checking it out.

Colorado So Far.

So far Colorado has been very good to us. We needed that. In a big way.

After a little bit of a slow start we are both now working full time! Praise the Lord. I am still working in cancer research and my awesome husband got a job working patient admissions. So we are both working really hard to move up and better our future.

We have made some small day trips to Breckenridge over the last few months. It is so beautiful there. The weather was very kind to us, the food was amazing, and we even took the dogs last time. They sure were worn out after walking all over town. I have not ventured into the ski parts of Breckenridge. My hope is that maybe next ski season I will be a little more confident and ready to try a bunny slope!

Speaking of weather Colorado weather is nothing to be expected. While I do know we are through winter, there is still a possibility of Spring snow. So we are on the watch for that. But, so far the last couple of weeks have been full of some of the best weather I have ever experienced. I guess because there is no humidity it doesn’t feel like you are swimming when the temp is up to 80 degrees! So that is a change for sure.

There are a lot of great places we are hoping to check out this summer. Be on the look out for some great pictures!

My first time working out at Red Rocks

If you do not know Red Rocks is one of the coolest outdoor amphitheaters. Aside from music and movies people go there to work out. A very Colorado thing to do it seems!

So of course on one of the first nice weekends we had around here everyone was there. A lot of it was still covered in snow even y’all!

I am working hard to work out around here and build up my tolerance in the altitude. It is not easy moving from below sea level to so far above. I was able to walk the stairs and soak in the views. It was worth every huff and puff up and down those stairs.

Medifast Meal Plan

Just like one million other people this year I am starting off 2015 taking better care of my diet. I used to love to work out. Well, let me rephrase that. I used to really enjoy how I felt right after I spent an hour on the elliptical. I felt like I could do anything!

But, back then my husband work nights and weekends. I was in a brand new to me home. I was on a roll with my diet. I felt good. Things obviously caught up with me.

Now I am focusing just on my diet. I am praying that my energy levels start to go up and that I will feel better about working out. I know you have seen those quotes, “Abs are made in  the kitchen”. I don’t know about abs for sure…or at all! But, I do know that for me feeling good starts there.

I have always had a strained relationship with food. It was a reward when good, a punishment when bad, a comfort for all my pains, and something I abused like a drug. To me the difference in food and drugs were simply that I need food to live. A person could put down drugs and never go back to them. Food is something you simply can’t say no to.

So, here I am starting to prep Medifast meals. Day after day. Trying to stay focused and trying to use food as fuel.

My prep is pretty simple. I figure out which Medifast meals I want for each day and bag them up. Then all I have to do is grab them and go. Because I am on thyroid medication there are some meals I can’t have first thing in the morning. Personally I am not a fan of the medifast eggs. Instead I have a small amount of greek yogurt and peanut butter or an egg. I need the protein first thing in the morning so I can feel good.

Oh and water y’all! I am working on making sure to drink at least 100 oz. of water a day. Sometimes more if I can. I also am on day for of no Coke (or soda, or pop, whatever you call it where you are from). I am detoxing nicely. I have lost the initial headaches, I am starting to feel good, and I am starting to get into a rhythm of what to eat and when to eat it.

Medifast is certainly not for everyone. I was lucky enough to get hooked up with a good amount for free from a friend who was no longer using the product. My goal is to get organized enough and save enough money so that when I need to reorder I can. Down the line I will be sharing my tips for making the meals work better for me and you. So be on the look out.

Valentine’s Day Y’all

With Valentine’s Day fast approaching I wanted to make something that everyone can have for showing me so much love! These can be printed out and given as cards, used as labels, or saved to your phone or computer as cute Valentine’s Day backgrounds.

Do y’all have plans for Valentine’s Day? My plan is to spend time with the one I love and just enjoy the day. I know it is important to show love everyday of the year but it is nice to have a day to remind that special person in your life just how much they mean to you.

If you use any of my printable cards let me know, or better yet show me! I look forward to seeing the great ways you use them and I want to say thank y’all for being with me on this new journey.
